TV Set-up Codes

- The SETUP key is used to program Scout.
- The TV and CBL keys are used to POWER on your TV and Cable Converter respectively.
- The VOL UP/DWN and MUTE keys are used to control the volume if your TV or Cable Converter.
- The CH UP/DWN keys are used to change the channels on your Cable Converter.
- The Number keys (0-9) are used for directly accessing the channels on your Cable Converter.
- The LAST key returns you to the previously viewed channel on your Cable Converter.
- The FAV key accesses the favorite channels stored into your Cable Converter. For instructions on setting up a Favorite Channel table, please refer to your Cable Converter Manual.
- The CABLE INTERACTIVE keys, (at the bottom of the remote) control the functions of your Cable Converter and will vary depending on the manufacturer of your Cable Converter. Please refer to your Cable Converter Manual for key descriptions.
Installing The Batteries - Back to Top
The Scout requires four new AAA alkaline batteries.
- On the back of the Scout, pull back on the tab and lift off the battery cover.
- Match the + and - marks on the batteries to the ones in the battery compartment of the remote.
- Press the battery cover back into place.
- Test the remote control by pressing the TV key. If the batteries are installed correctly, the red light on the remote will blink once.
Setting Up Your Scout To Operate Your TV - Back to Top
- TURN ON your TV.
- PRESS and HOLD the SETUP key until the Scout's red light blinks twice. RELEASE the SETUP key.
- ENTER the first 3-digit Setup Code for your brand of television. If you entered the code, correctly, the Scout's red light will blink twice.
- AIM Scout at your television and hit the TV key. Your television should turn off. If your television does not turn off, repeat steps 1-3 trying each code for you brand of TV until you find the code that operates your television.
- NOTE:Since the Scout is only designed to operate Televisions and Cable Converters, the Scout is NOT able to operate TV/VCR combinations.

- TURN ON your television.
- PRESS and HOLD the SETUP key until the Scout's red light blinks twice. RELEASE the SETUP key.
- ENTER 9-9-1 Scout's red light will blink twice
- AIM the Scout at your Television and slowly alternate between pressing the TV and MUTE keys until your television mutes (make sure the sound on your TV is turned up). You may have to press this sequence of buttons up to 100 times to search the entire library of codes.
- Once your Television mutes. PRESS and RELEASE the SETUP button to lock in your code. Your Scout is ready to operate your television.
Getting Codes From Your Scout - Back to Top
If you need to find out which three-digit code is operating your television after your television is set up, use this procedure:
- PRESS and HOLD the SETUP key until the Scout's red light blinks twice, then RELEASE the SETUP key.
- PRESS 9-9-0. Scout's red light will blink twice.
- For the first digit if your three digit code, PRESS 1, wait and COUNT the number of times the Scout's red light blinks. If the light DOES NOT blink when you press 1, the digit is zero.
- For the second digit of your three digit code, PRESS 2, wait and COUNT the number of times the Scout's red light blinks. If the light DOES NOT blink when you press 2, the digit is zero.
- For the third digit of your three digit code, PRESS 3, wait and COUNT the number of times the Scout's red light blinks. If the light DOES NOT blink when you press 3, the digit is zero.
- Now you have the 3-digit code for your television.
Volume Lock - Back to Top
If your television is not remote controllable or, if you have a TV/VCR combination, you can access the volume of your cable converter. To change the volume setting on the Scout, use the following:
- PRESS and HOLD the SETUP key until Scout's red light blinks twice, then RELEASE the SETUP key.
- PRESS 9-9-3, Scout's red light will blink twice.
- PRESS and RELEASE the CBL key. The Scout's red light will blink twice.
- Now whenever you press VOL UP/DWN on Scout, your volume will be controlled by your Cable Converter.
Returning The Volume To The TV - Back to Top
- PRESS and HOLD the SETUP key until Scout's red light blinks twice, then RELEASE the SETUP key. ENTER 9-9-3, Scout's red light will blink twice.
- PRESS and RELEASE the TV key. Scout's red light will blink twice.
- Now, whenever you PRESS VOL UP/DWN on Scout, your volume will be controlled by your television.

Q: Red light not blinking when you press a key?
A: Replace the batteries with 4 new "AAA" batteries.
Q: The Scout does not operate your television?
A: Try all of the codes listed for for your brand of television from the Setup Codes. Make sure the television you are trying to operate can be worked with an infrared remote control.
Q: The red light blinks when you press a key but you receive no response from your television or Cable Converter?
A: Make sure you are aiming your Scout at your television or Cable Converter and that you are within 15 feet before using your remote.
